Azure SQL Database
Relational workloads and serving layer
Overview
We design Azure SQL Database for relational applications and for serving layers that do not need a massively parallel warehouse. That includes schema, indexing, elastic pools where many small databases share a budget, and the backup retention you are obliged to keep.
We migrate from SQL Server or from another cloud database with a tested cutover, and we connect pipelines and Power BI through private endpoints and contained users. High-availability and failover groups are set only where the recovery point requires them.
What we deliver
- Azure SQL schema, indexes, and sizing or elastic pool placement
- Migration runbook with a tested cutover and rollback
- Private endpoint, firewall rules, and contained database users
- Backup retention and alerting on DTU or vCore saturation
Business benefits
- Application and serving databases have a stated size and recovery point
- Cutover is rehearsed, so the old server is not switched off on the day
- Reports and pipelines connect without opening the database to the public internet
